Dr. Alexei Trifonov, Chief Scientist, Vice President, Research and
Development
Dr. Trifonov is one of the worlds leading experimentalists in quantum
optics and was the original Project Leader on MagiQ QPN. He received
his Master of Science (physics) from the Leningrad Polytechnic Institute
(now St. Petersburg State Technical University) in 1981. He was
also Candidate of physical-mathematical sciences degree (equivalent
to the Ph.D.) from A. F. Ioffe Physical Technical Institute, Russian
Academy of Sciences, St. Petersburg, Russia (1985), Doctor of physical-mathematical
sciences degree from St. Petersburg State Technical University,
St. Petersburg, Russia (2000).
Before joining MagiQ, Dr. Trifonov was a senior researcher and
the Head of Quantum Optics group at the Russian Academy of Sciences
and a Visiting Scientist at the Royal Institute of Technology, Kista,
Sweden. At the Royal Institute of Technology.
Dr. Trifonov prime areas of interest include quantum cryptography,
quantum information processing, and quantum communication
Dr. Trifonov is a recipient of the 1996 Ioffe Institute Award
and the 1997 International Science Foundation Award. He has also
contributed to more than 60 published scientific papers.
